The Scene Is Real: Why NYC’s Startup Momentum Can’t Be Ignored
NYC’s startup scene isn’t copying Silicon Valley, it’s rewriting the rules with grit, heart, and a whole lot of hustle.
NYC isn’t “the next Silicon Valley.” It’s doing its own thing — louder, smarter, scrappier.
It’s its own thing, and if you were at our last event in Midtown, you know exactly what we mean.
✨ Here is a collage of some of our pics from our May 15th event. ✨
If you were at our last event in Midtown, you already felt it:
The room was at capacity.
Days before the event even started.
Not for a pitch. Not for press.
Just to connect.
People came ready. We saw founders skipping the salesy intros and just talking shop. Designers sharing early builds. VCs quietly observing from the edges, no business cards, no awkward follow-ups.
One engineer met their future co-founder. More than a few of us just enjoyed a night without saying “synergy” once.
That’s the NYC we’re here for. ✨
And now we’re keeping that momentum going with another night — As part of the “NYC Tech Week“ this time at Sour Mouse NYC.
📍 June 5 (Thursday), Lower East Side @5PM.
If you missed the last one, don’t make the same mistake twice. The good news? You don’t need to overthink how to show up. Come with a clear ask (or no ask at all), stay curious, and skip the over-rehearsed intros. (We’ve seen how the best investors actually respond to that, and trust us, it’s not how you’d think.)
If the idea of “just chatting with strangers” makes you anxious, don’t worry. Most of us have made some awkward moves in our early days (we’ve documented those too, in case you need a good laugh).
But this crowd? It’s different. It’s open. And it’s happening again soon.
So show up. And bring that one friend who always says “I never find good tech events.”
You’ve got one shot to prove them wrong.
